Letters to resident of Bristol, Conn., from her cousin, Charles Churchill and her husband-to-be, Austin Thompson, both members of the 16th Regiment of Connecticut Infantry; letter of September 17, 1862 describes the Battle of Antietam; letter of September 26, 1863 mentions the charge of an African-American Regiment at Fort Wagner; letter of November 15, 1863 describes the shooting of two substitutes in the 8th Regiment of Connecticut Infantry for desertion; letter of September 16, 1877 states that Thompson will attend the dedication of the Soldiers' Monument in Manchester, Conn.
